Welcome to Rangla Punjab Academy Website

About us: Rangla Punjab Academy was founded on September 13, 2014 with classes starting in the Woodbridge location. Academy Coach/Founder Sukhvir Singh wanted to continue his passion for bhangra after college. Rangla Punjab Academy was formed to bring together kids from our punjabi community and communities alike to teach traditional Punjabi folk bhangra and instill punjabi values and morals in our kids. Rangla Punjab Leaders hope to serve as great role models for our kids offering advice in Bhangra, Academics, and Career planning. We treat all our students with much respect, appreciation, and gratitude. We hope to get them excited about bhangra and dancing as we are ourselves. We have teachers with great amount of experience dancing and performing on stages and can offer great direction, leadership, and experience to all our dance students.

Although we are a very young academy, we have already accomplished major goals. We have recently held our own Rangla Punjab Diwali Mela Culture show gathering crowd of over 500 people and performances by every single student from our academy. We had given out free t-shirt, prizes, bottles, stickers, and many other promotional materials of Rangla Punjab to establish a name for ourselves. We hope to build feelings of loving, passionate, and inspirational with the brand of Rangla Punjab. The academy has also done a recent performance at a local Punjabi Virsa Culture Night. We hope to do two Culture Shows a year and get every single kid a chance to perform on stage. Our Culture shows will serve as great way to show the parents how much their kids have improved.

We hope you join our hands as we continue to build a legacy for Rangla Punjab Academy.

Testimonials

  • Rangla Punjab Bhangra Academy has given me the opportunity to learn my culture in depth. Before joining, I knew  a little bit about Bhangra and was unaware of certain things. But now, I’m able to learn new steps and moves and then show my family and friends at the shows that we have. The best part is that I get to be with my friends while doing Bhangra and there’s no greater feeling than that. They help me learn and have fun. Class is never a struggle and it’s always enjoyable with the fun days like Halloween day where we got to dress up in our costumes. Moreover, Bhangra is a fun way to connect to our tradition and continue it. This Academy has given me the opportunity to learn new things and experience Bhangra like never before.

  • Rangla Punjab Academy is such a great warm environment. Everyone is so nice and Sukhvir Bhaji, our coach, is very dedicated and hardworking. He handles the academy with a great passion. He has a desire to spread punjabi culture and bhangra skills to everyone. We also are introduced to different forms of music and it’s so much fun to dance to these songs. It’s a fun and exciting experience overall 🙂

  • Rangla Punjab Academy is a place to spread culture and acknowledge furthermore about our roots. Every student may be doing sports and other type of activities but they don’t touch base on what their culture is all about. Rangla Punjab Academy is a friendly and patient atmosphere to let your loved ones experience what their ancestors have done.

  • I’ve been to many different dance academies, however my experience at Rangla Punjab is the best so far. The coach is very nice and understanding. He keeps everything simple, which makes picking up the steps very easy. He turned some of the worst dancers into star students. We have performed two times and during both of the times, everything was perfect. Everyone had tons of fun and we enjoyed the whole experience. Rangla Punjab is one of the best academies out there and I’m positive that once you try it, you won’t be able to wait for the next time you go back.

  • My experience at Rangla Punjab is amazing so far. I love it! Especially the freestyles we have at end of class and dancing on old folk songs. Also making new friends and sticking to our punjabi culture.

We have very affordable prices. We have the best interests of Parents and our kids to make our classes as affordable as possible. Our prices start at $55 per month to $90 per month. Every Class is once a week. Price is usually around $75 per month. For exact pricing for a student and specific schedule and timings, please call us directly to answer your questions: 732-668-3116.
Do you have any culture shows or recitals?
Yes, We have two culture shows a year for Diwali Mela and Vaisakhi Mela. We encourage all students to participate. We take each class and make routines to songs, mixes, dhol, and live folk boliyan for performances at these melas. These culture shows are great amount of fun for everyone. We take a lot of pictures and videos for memories for kids and students and use it as marketing tool to bring even more students on board. The culture show also helps parents see how well their child is doing, how much they have learned, and how well they perform in front of an audience. We have also participate in may performances at other culture shows and local competitions to give our students even more exposure and time to perform on stage in front of an audience.
Are boys and girls separate classes?
No, Boys and Girls classes are together. We have Co-ed Classes. We don't discriminate against anyone. We welcome everyone with open arms and a warm welcome. We hope to build long term relationships with parents and close friendships with our students to provide the best dancing experience and a great environment for growth.
Is Bhangra for both boys and girls?
Yes, Bhangra can be done by both a guy or girl. Gidha is mainly done by girls, although there is Malwai Gidha that is done by guys as well. We encourage everyone to try all types of dances. Bhangra is great fun no matter whether you're a boy or girl. It's a great cardio workout and great fun to dance your hearts out to the beats of dhol and folk punajbi music.
What Age kid do you accept?
We accept all ages of kids as long as they're able to understand, follow, act somewhat mature in class. As a general rule of thumb, we believe at age 5, kids are mature enough to start learning bhangra.

Are Adult Classes Separate from Kids Classes
Yes, Adults and Kids Classes are separate.
How do you initially place kids into class?
The teacher initially places the student in a class to see which age group and skill level he best fits. In a month's period of time, the teacher observes and see how quickly the student is picking and whether he needs to be put in a different class that would benefit the student more. We have testing in which students are tested of how well they can do certain moves, how well they can remember names and steps, how observant they are, and how quickly they learn, to give them a grading Level between 1 to 10 to see which class they belong in and will learn the best in.
How are you different from other academies?
We're very young and a very new academy in New Jersey. We hope to create a name and legacy for ourselves in a short time. We're very hungry, dedicated, and hard working. We want to add as much value as we can behind the name "Rangla Punjab Academy". Rangla Punjab is focused on teaching traditional folk bhangra from Punjab. Although we like to teach traditional folk dances of punjab, we also like to make it fun for kids and adults alike by trying new different types of songs, instruments, and folk music to keep it entertaining. In class, we like to play a lot of freestyle and a wide variety of music from folk songs, modern songs, pure traditional punjabi songs, bollywood songs, american songs, and just pure dhol for kids to understand beat and dance to any flow of music. We try our best to keep kids happy and entertained with wide variety.
Can I watch my child dance in the classroom?
We ask all parents NOT to go into the classroom during the hour. It is our experience that little dancers adjust better to class if the parent/guardian does not come in and take them out of class or come in to talk to them. It is disruptive to the class if parents keep coming in and out of the classroom.
Where can I watch my child dance?
You will be able to watch your child in the lounge from a distance.
What if my dancer starts to cry in class?
Our goal is make dance a wonderful and fun learning experience for each child. Although some children may jump right in, it may be a little scary being in a classroom setting without a parent/guardian for others. It is not unusual for a new dancer to cry the first couple of classes. If the instructor thinks the dancer needs to leave the classroom, she will bring your dancer out. Please trust that we have your little one’s best interest at heart.
Can I leave the studio to run errands while my child is in class?
Absolutely! All of our teachers are highly qualified and will take the best care of your child. We encourage you to take this time to run those never-ending errands.
At what age can my child move up to the next level of dance class?
Ultimately, it is left up to the teacher’s discretion as to whether your child should move onto a higher level or not. Each one of these classes contains different skill levels that must be mastered before progressing toward the next. For any of our classes we ask that you, as the parent, not rush your child through learning these valuable dance skills. Please feel free to approach a teacher with questions regarding your child’s progress.
